It is our pleasure to present this book with the title “Basics of Pharmacognosy”. This book is in accordance of Education regulation 2020 as per Pharmacy Council of India. The students approached us as they felt the need a pharmacognosy book according to the syllabus which should be simple, to the point and contains all topics of the syllabus which are most commonly used. Although so many pharmacognosy books are available today, but most of them contain less topics according to the syllabus, which the readers will agree, are hardly referred to. This book is designed to impart knowledge on the medicinal uses of various drugs of natural origin. Also the course emphasizes the fundamental concepts in the evaluation of crude drugs, alternative systems of medicine, nutraceuticals and herbal cosmetics.

This book  contains various aspects of drugs substances derived from natural resources like occurrence, distribution, isolation, identification test of common phytoconstituents, therapeutic activity and pharmaceutical applications of various natural drug substances and phytoconstituents; biological source, chemical constituents of selected crude drugs and their therapeutic efficacy in common diseases and ailments; basic concepts in quality control of crude drugs and various system of medicines and lastly application of herbs in health food and cosmetics.

This theory book contains the detail about history of pharmacy along with what are present careers available for pharmacy students.
